Using the GPSDO for time sync

I know this was talked about early in the beta testing phase, but I have not heard any comments or plans to implement the use of the GPSDO to sync the local computer to the highly accurate time signals on the 6700 with the GPSDO. With such an accurate clock so close it a shame to have to go to the internet to sync the time up. Anybody know if there are any plans for this?

The sad thing about this is on Linux this takes about 5 minutes to configure.

The radio would have to act as a NTP server. I guess it would be possible, but not sure there's a huge benefit to doing that? Mostly from a support point of view. NTP allows quite a bit of drift anyway, so the precision of the GPSDO would be lost over time. I have to use a 3rd party program anyway to keep the drift in check for JT65.

The GPS module would keep the time within a couple milliseconds all the time. There would be little to no drift. Super simple setup. Presuming they connected the GPS serial output and PPS.

Is it doable?  Probably.  And it is in our database as a possible future enhancement. That is as far as any plans have progressed.
