I didn't know the details on this last 2014 WRTC, but I did a bit of reading on their site and it is interesting to see the winning combos:

    1. Team K1A -- N6MJ & KL9A with Icom IC7800 and Icom IC7800 using WINTEST

    2. Team W1L -- OM3BH & OM3GI with Elecraft K3 and Icom IC7600 using WINTEST

    3. Team W1P -- DJ5MW & DL1IAO with Icom IC-756 Pro3 and Icom IC-756-Pro3 using WINTEST

63% of the Rigs were Elecraft K3 and still only one made it to the top 3. And the old IC756Pro3, relegated on the Sherwood table to position 40 or so of the table manages a third position. Way to go for the Icom. I think they win because of the ergonomics.

Can't wait to start seeing the Flex radios on these contests.

Also, I use N1MM but I might have to take a look at WINTEST.

nice job richard; i too looked at the scores. Wow, those guys ARE good.  still, w 100w to a dipole, inv V @ 40' on 80 and 40, did you see those numbers ?? 1000 Q's on 40 ?? clearly W1 is a great place to work Europe...rare to see a field day 2a score with that many qso's..

The ops are awesome! Even if you are a non-contester and/or non-DXer, if you love ham radio you'll love this video. Each team brought their own radios, computers, filters, switches, etc but used the excellent setups provided by the organizers, who did a great job. The video has something for everyone.
