Occasionally on my 6500, slice A, latest SSDR and long term monitoring. I have seen the S meter go to full scale on band noise. Receive function is not effected. Closing the slice and reopening it fixes the problem.

Did have the same thing once on my 6500 Andrew. Pretty much the same fix, sure gets your attention though.  I guess just one of the few quirks of these newfangled radios, but what a radio eh? Mine will not talk to the computer unless I warm re-boot the computer every day, after that the radio and computer talk all day without incident. Beats my two pair.

I have had a similar issue too, next time it happens, see if changing to another band and back again fixes it; it did for me. The band noise itself does not change at all.
