iPhone to IPhone Remote at Yuma Hamfest
I was standing at the Flex Booth at the Yuma Hamfest showing off my iPhone Remote connected via Parallels Access to my 6700 in La Jolla, CA to a prospective buyer of a 6300 (she did buy a 6300 at the show). When along came George KF2T with his iPhone connected to his 6500 in Henderson, NV. So we made a brief Q standing beside each other... Lori Hicks took a picture of the Historic Q as proof that we were there.
I have worked iPad to Flex to Flex to iPad before (the first was with Joe KC2TN in 2012 at Dayton) but this was my first iPhone to Flex to Flex to iPhone....
For a lot of you who say that you have no interest in remoting... Imagine you are waiting for the XYL trying on yet another pair of shoes or you are standing in line at the Checkout and suddenly you forgot you were missing your net or that ATNO just came on the air.. you could whip out your phone (everyone carries a phone these days) and work them....
Now if only V2 were here and we could remote with an Native iPhone App the world would be at Peace... (yes I know my idea of World Peace is very simplistic)

So, where is the picture!

I know the thrill of native remote. The Icom 7800 is a stand-alone remote but does not have any apps for the smart phones just the PC. Nevertheless, it is a kick in the head to talk to the radio only through the Internet. I have a small SDRIQ piggy backed on the 7800 so I can get the panorama. However, nothing matches the panorama of the Flex 6000 series.0

I guess we need Lori Hicks to return to Texas and post her Pix
it's really cool to see the full panorama on my iPHone 6+

Howard - I've used access on my ipad mini (retna) to control a dell workstation running SmardSDR and parallels access, and have remoted the receive audio so I can set on the couch and listen. Haven't quite pushed the right buttons to the the TX audio back out, however haven't tried too hard. Once we have 1.4 that part is going to be simpler, I think.
Remote away from the house works fine over LTE too.
The control of the freq is "tricky". I set the tune to 1k, and zoom into a narrow freq range. Otherwise, as I slide my finger to pull the freq, as I let go, it "bounces".
Sounds like you've mastered the ipad/iphone in all those shoe stores! We need some operation tips for ios operating!

I have written up the install instructions which I have posted several times on this community
Its a bit tricky to get your head around dealing the recording side of the audio to listen but once you understand that its pretty easy to set up
I am waiting until 1.4 before I write up "iPhone/iPad SSDR Remote Operating Tips"

Yep, I've seen the write up. It's great.
Just got around to getting access working about a week ago. Got the receive audio working immediately. Didn't get the TX working, but didn't work much at it. Now that you mention it, I don't think I clicked on the "listen" button on that side.
If 1.4 doesn't show up soon, I'll get busy and solve that side too.
I'd be real interested in your "ios SmartSdr Operating Manual".
I made the Orlando hamfest and got to play with 1.4 in the booth. Played with FreeDV too. Got to meet Greg, Steve and Tim. It was fun.

@ Howard, "Imagine you are waiting for the XYL trying on yet another pair of shoes".
I have made sure that my wife never wants to go shopping with me, even to translate in a foreign country, hi hi. On the **rare** occasions where we HAVE to go together, we take two cars.0 -
@ Guy
Please, Please, Please tell me your secret!!!
Somehow I never seem to get beyond the question..
"Do these shoes make my feet look ****?"

OK, Howard. You sold me.

Howard
Take two cars and always make your car something to avoid riding in, and hers the only non-embarassing choice. If your forced to ride with her, ride in back and backseat drive her till you get lost. Refuse to get out and go in, unless she parks where you want to park. Refuse to ride with her unless you ride in back. Offer her the same in your vehicle. Store crates of amateur detritus "clean out the shack" in the back seat,
apply pet hair liberally around the shotgun posistion. Drive either too slow or too fast and circle the parking lot repeatedly looking for that optimum spot. if you operate mobile run the RF and AF gain cranked and tell her your listening for valuable DX.
I used similar techniques to fund construction of my shack.
In other words just let her choose.

None so far. It's worked out nicely. I've had to fund a few Cruiseliner trips, but I haven't had to go. Seperate bank accounts, vacations, and a general lack of funds make it all bearable.
Always smile, Grin when appropriate, let her think she's making you do things you plan to do anyway. Always pay attention, and look for opportunities to maximize your opportunities.
Some are lucky at the races or cards. I got lucky picking a wife, I make sure she knows that I know it.

If you want to live long, never answer that question with "it ain't the shoes, honey."3

I will be looking forward to the 1.4 tutorial. It would like to be able to check in for the office from time to time.0

I remember it well Howard! Photo attached!
Funny thing happened later that night in the DX Hospitality Suites at the Crown Plaza.
The remote ham station guys were demo'ing their K-Zero and New England station capabilities impressing everyone!
So, I tapped into their WiFi with my iPhone and worked Europe via the iPhone and my Flex 5000 home station.
They were fun times! AND that was 3 years ago! Look what we're doing today!

You forgot to add it was the first ever
IPad to Flex 5000 to SteppIR MonstIR (in San Diego) to
SteppIR MonstIR to Flex 5000 to iPad (in N.J) transcontinental QSO

Yes it was the 1st ever! COAST TO COAST (Ca-NJ), with us in the middle, made it more interesting. We actually tried it in 2011 but my Steppir was not up at that time. And WiFi at Hara's was not too good! With total automation in place at my QTH., 2012 proved successful Got the contact, the QSL, AND an Eyeball QSO ALL at the same time. I also have the video!0
