SSDR 1.3.8 update FlexVSP

Flex 6300 (first flex) win7 64

When I first received my 6300 I managed to muddle through the 1.3.0 upgrade that was required w/o reading release notes. I have since : ) found this site and saw Steve's announcement abt the 1.3.8 upgrade and steps to accomplish it properly : ).

The 1.3.8 installer to the host pc was uneventful as well as the accompanying flex 6300 software upgrade : ) (upgrade time approx. 2.5min) As per Steve's notes proceed to upgrading SSDRcat. As per 1.3.8 release notes pg10 Uninstalling SSDRcat 1.2.11 or greater FLEXvsp must be uninstalled manually... then reboot.

After reboot, pc notified me that driver for FLEXvsp was required and I needed to install SSDR to do so which seems at odds with the release notes. I reinstalled SSDR and luckily all went well (and SSDR and 6300 function normally)

Was that a normal sequence of events or should the FLEXvsp driver installed automatically after the uninstall reboot ? If it should have installed automatically any suggestions where I went wrong ?

Finally and sorry that this question is totally unrelated to thread title bar, I have seen that many users do a complete SSDR uninstall prior to SSDR upgrades. I did not and see that the upgrade also did not remove 1.3.0. As I stated earlier, the flex 6300 software upgrade was uneventful so do I want to remove 1.3.0 at this point in time or do I just want to leave it in case I run across a problem w/ 1.3.8 ? Also when there is an upgrade, what is actually uploaded into the rig ? Are just the updates loaded or does some complete reload take place ?

Thanks,

Mike, i do it usually as(just follow with manual):
    1. Close CAT and DAX services
    2. Uninstall SSDR and FlexVSP with drivers removal (answer YES on the question on the drivers deleting)
    3. Reboot PC (wait untill completed)
    4. Install New version
    5. Upgrade of the my F6700
    6. cold reboot of the my F6700

    all works fine

Yes I like that logic and the SSDR installer will install the new vsp driver along with the new SSDR version both at the same time.

Ok so when the radio is updated, it no longer needs the old SSDR version to exist in the host PC and instead will have everything it needs in the SSDR update that exists in the host pc.

So no reason for me to maintain the old SSDR file in my PC and I can delete that now.
