dxing and split operation problem

I tried to operate split
2 slices
slice 1 on the station
slice 2 on where he said he was listening.
Slice A could transmit
Slice B could not
I tried XIT on slice A and that didn't work
Each Slice had different DAX channels for receive and transmit
DAX Control Panel correctly had Slice 2 indicating the Red TX
I was able to position both slices in the screen
Slice at at 14.088.42 using DAX Channel 1
Slice B at 14.090.680 using DAX Channel 2
When I enabled slice B TX button
The TX Button in the DAX Control Panel went out
Which it should.
But when I enabled the DAX 2 Slice B, I did not see the red line indicating it was hearing any signal
Slice 1 continued to show signal in the DAX Control Panel as does Slice B, as there are many calling on his listening frequency.
I'm receiving on both slices.
But I can not transmit on Slice 2 which is the listening frequency of the DX Station
What little detail am I missing.
