Steppir auto track / setup problems

Member
edited April 2019 in FLEX-6000 Signature Series

I have a SteppIR and trying to auto track using DDUtil

SO far no luck... 6 hours latter..  Installed so far includes; SDR Cat, DDUtil, USB to Serial Com port assignment

>>>>>>>>

Problem 1 - (Note A) Serial Com port assigns SteppIR to Com4; which conflicts with SmartSDR Cat third party program to Port, So I used Device Manager to reassign Com 5 to SteppIR.

>>>>>>>>>>

Ports in Device Manager are:

1- FlexRadio Virtual Serial Port Com14

2- FlexRadio Virtual Serial Port Com4

3- Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port Com3

4- Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port Com5 <<< this one keep assigning as Com4; See note A above

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

IN DDUtil:

The only things I have set up are:

Features Tab; selected Signature; indicating Flex-6500 radio online

Ports Tab; under Passive Listener Port = Com5, Floow PSDR set to Kenwood (corresponding to Steppir controller setup), have Comm Set to 9600 8-N-1 (corresponding to Steppir controller setup); also tried using ICOM, 19200, no effect.

Others Tab; Tried setting up SteppIR; Check Enable, Port set to Comm5; negative ... when doing so, selecting Comm 5 conflicts to above Ports Tab settnig under Passive Listener Port = Com5 (so, tried clearing Passive Port, and setting Others Tab SteppIR to Comm5, steppIR window comes up, Fwd, 180, directions; negative response) gez...

>>>>

FInally; I unloaded the entire setup; Flex 6500, CAT, DDUTIL, Serial to PC, et al... reloaded; negative.

Any Suggestions ????

Once I get this figured out; I have an OM2500A amp to also hookup.... cant wait... gez.

Regards,

AK5WB, Bill

Bill, check the DDutil forum. Others are having problems with tracking using the latest version of DDutil.

It appears there is a bug in the latest version of DDUtil. I have the same issue. If you "reverse" the antenna first from DDUtil and then go back to forward it will track the frequency properly. I have reported the bug to Steve Nance, the author of DDUtil.

WBB, let's move this discussion off the Flex Community and on to the DDUtil reflector where it is more appropriate. Please send me a private email to snance at charter.net.
