Receiver recovery time??

How quickly does the 6700 receiver recover after switching from the 'TUNE' mode.
If its much less than 0.15 of a second, then is it possible that you will momentarily be able to hear your 'tune' carrier as it traverses the earth and comes back to your antenna??
With a 4 element beam on frequencies from 14 to 28mHz and a bit of RF power, I am hearing a very short duration tone after switching from Tune to Receive.
This only occurs when the 'band' is wide open and echo is heard on other signals.
if this works, its a neat way of knowing which path to use short or long....
