CW keying output

I set the 6700 to Iambic but disabled the breakin. When I key up I notice that there is a signal at least on the display but no power out as I would expect. Picture was taken with radio on dummy load.

That is normal. The pip on the screen is a visual indication of your transmit frequency. If break-in is disabled, you will not transmit when you press the key. If you hit MOX or mash the footswitch, the key will send RF. Why anyone would use this on purpose instead of break-in, I don't know, unless they hae some large relays on old amps or mast-mounted preamps that they need to sequence properly and not wear out with rapid keying... I have occasionally found the "function" you discovered to be helpful in spotting my transmit frequency. And I have been fooled a few times when using headphones and full break-in, thinking I was transmitting when I had not set my slice to TX! The "pip" was dancing and I couldn't understand why that S-9 signal wouldn't answer me!

Interesting. My 6500 doesn't do that.

When I turn off breakin I noticed that the radio does not transmit. The light above the power switch does not turn red until I turn Breakin back on.
