Has anyone on the Alpha Team for Ver1.1 tried the DAX -IQ 96k connection with CW Skimmer?

    Yes. Also at 192k too.

Oh great... Now I need to spend $75 for CW Skimmer....Don't you guys know that every embellishment you make costs me more money! [grin] This hobby could get to be expensive!

I do need to set some expectations. CWSkimmer is not currently designed to accommodate "two degrees of tuning freedom" where a slice and a panadapter can be tuned independently of one another. IQ or wide band data is generated at the panadapter level, not at the slice resource level, so the panadapter's center frequency is the IQ data center frequency. To get frequency accurate wide band (> 24 kHz) decodes in CWSkimmer, you have to set the CWSkimmer LO frequency to the panadapter center frequency. Currently the only way to do this easily is by using the telnet interface in CWSkimmer. This configuration precludes the use of CAT which is bound to slices, not panadapters, hence the reference to "two degrees of tuning freedom". So you have to tune the slice manually. We will document how to do this for the SmartSDR v1.1 release We have been in touch with Alex (the author of CWSkimmer) about creating a CWSkimmer interface specifically for SmartSDR that accommodates the "two degrees of tuning freedom" challenge and he has agreed to work with our engineering group to make the operation of SmartSDR with CWSkimmer seamless in a future version of CWSkimmer.

With the 6700's capabilities the tie in should also be concentrated to skimmer server where it can scan multiple bands at the same time as with the QS1R (7 bands at 192 kHz each). I know that is down the road and for now looking forward to 1.1 skimmer capability. 73 Greg

Hi Team, sounds good, some thing planned abt Telnet connection SSDR - Skimmer(for auto LO setup) ?

It sounds like this is using the regular CW skimmer program. So we should be able to utilize the telnet function in that program.

Greg, i am not sure as it was not announced(Skimmer integration) and some DLL implementations are necessary. In this case LO can be setup manually only, just for review signals into the Skimmer, otherwise in any "click" on Skimmer-monitor required to change LO again: "...to make the operation of SmartSDR with CWSkimmer seamless in a future version of CWSkimmer. "

Tim - a while back there was a comment / request for feature "Slice A Should be Centered After Frequency Change via CAT".  This is still a really good idea anyway for contesting, etc. using loggers.

Would this feature not also get over this particular problem?  Clicking on Skimmer would change the frequency via CAT -- and if the panadapter were automatically re-centered by SSDR then the LO frequency would be just right...

    Just wondering!

    David,
Here is a link to one of the idea postings for an option to automatically center the active slice in the panadapter.    It is in reference to the CW Skimmer issue but would also provide a nice tuning option as you noted.
