Cannot get DAX to work after updating from Windows 8 to 8.1.

I have submitted a ticket on this but beginning to think that my problem might be unique. My 6500 has been working with no problem with the latest version of software with DAX. When I updated win8 to 8.1 DAX worked for 2 days and then failed. The 6500 is working OK but there is no DAX. Repeated attempts at uninstalling, re-booting and re-installing have not worked.
