Compression meter graphics and response

It seems to me we have compression/downward expansion teeter-tottering each other from the looks of the graph bars. If "mic meter during rx" is enabled in settings, watch the bars slowly invoke the COMP speaking in the mic going into gain reduction, and a slow, like, +800ms recovery to the highest compression level and then it speeds up rapidly. Is this the norm? Watch it with explosive consonants. Fun stuff to watch...one size doesn't fit all. My bet is the recovery time is too long for the downward expansion. Please opine!
