Noise Reduction working better...0.16.4 I tried out the NR on 20M CW at various filter widths and i can hear improvement. Can someone provide an overview of how NR works? Are there different algorithms applied as the slide is moved? Or is there one algorithm with some parameters that change? Any recomendations and other details would be appreciated. Regards, Al / NN4ZZ

Some videos showing NB, NR, ANF working would be useful.0

I have often thought that "Noise Reduction" may have different expectation among different people. Does noise reduction mean increasing your chance of digging out the ' weak one" on an otherwise quiet band or does it mean reducing listener fatigue during long hours of monitoring a frequency. And does it mean different things to CW vs. SSB, and require different algorythems fo CW vs SSB for optimum performance? AL, K0VM0

For me NR means reducing band noise to increase the SNR whether on CW or SSB.... (NB for pulsing noise, NR for static or band noise, ANF for hetrodynes.) Cheers, Dennis, k0eoo0

I have found NR with the Agc threashold adjusted properly will pull a weak signal out , I have used this on the flex 5000 and 3000 and the ten tec Orion . We are not at that point with smart sdr yet.0

With .16.4.78 The NR severely limits the audio to ~ 250hz-1K. 0-100% slider range. This is on ssb with an s-9 signal. Would be nice to extend the high frequencies a bit.0

That would be a good thing on CW. Hopefully we'll get some information on the strategy and algorithm(s) being used. Maybe there are more enhancements planned. Different approaches work better for some modes, types of noise, and band conditions. The NR does provide benefit but I'd like to understand it better and hear what else is planned. Maybe there will be a chapter on DSP in the manual coming out with V1.0. That would be nice. Regards, Al / NN4ZZ0

The documentation is going to be the key.0

I wonna to note following: 1. We have some observation with Ken in http://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/initial_dsp_opservations_for_v_0_16_4 2. NB - sorry, can't test, no power line or other sourse with puls noise, need more time to analysis 3. I can confirm NR working, but slider still uneffective with NR function - i have no effect with slider move from 0 to the 100%. I need explanation how this feature working. BTW, i have tryed today at morning quiet 20m and would like to say: with NR i can copy signals now what are masked completely with noise and can't be recognised without NR - very good, slider must be improved ! 4. ANF - feelings different, on one side i can confirm what carriers and CW signal suppressed now, some how ANF slider efective, but i do not feel this function completely. I did't see multiple carrier suppression in this ver of the SSDR, may be here this not implemented yet ? 5. I can confirm issue mentioned http://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/noise_blanker_and_noise_reduction_interaction_causes_muting pity 6. AGC-t - my point of view for now, this slider equivalent of the RF Gain, no other feeling with this slider 7. AGC timing (slow/med/fast off) - really has no make sense with different position of this switch , can some body test it also ? 8. Smart CAT - without DDutil CAT port is unusable - i can't connect with any 3-rd party SW to the COM4(default) with any port setup, what happens? may be i do some thing wrong ? sorry i have collected under this topic different notes, but i would like to summarize all notes at one place0
