Why is CW offset Added or Subtracted to/from TUNE frequency in SSB mode?

When I click on the TUNE button the radio puts out a signal on the indicated frequency plus the CW offset in USB mode and Frequency minus CW offset in LSB mode. If I am in CW mode it generates a signal on the indicated frequency. My question is why is the CW offset added or subtracted to/from the carrier frequency in SSB mode but not in CW mode?? Don

My Preference on SSB would certainly be that the carrier used for TUNE or ATU should be zero beat with the carrier frequency tuned in SSB so that it doesn't interfere with anyone.

This question should be changed to a problem and fixed to eliminate the CW offset in SSB TUNE.

Now that we have RIT/XIT on the FlexControl Knob, I have a simple work-around.
I simply hit the XIT button and slide the tx frequency just a little more than the CW offset....Then tune my ATU, zero the XIT and I am good to go.....

I would suggest that when this is addressed, the offset is set to zero for USB, LSB, DIGIU and DIGIL.  Perhaps this can be put into the July 2014 update roadmap if it is not too involved? For right now, the XIT trick only takes a couple of seconds, which is much better than before RIT/XIT was implemented.

I have added this as a program change.  No promises when it will be addressed as there are a lot of other higher priority features that development has allocated resources to right now.

I do not have this problem when I use the tune button

Thanks, Tim.  I consider it an annoyance, not a major problem, now that we have XIT.  -- a level B or C fix that you can do while you are in that module doing something else...
