Raspy clicking sound coming from the radio itself when tuning with Flex Control Knob

While tuning around with two slices on 40 SSB & 80 SSB and having made a few SSB transmissions, I tuned to 40 CW and began to tune around with the Flex Control Knob and it started making a rapid, raspy sound, kind of like listening to a wireless mouse on it's transmit frequency. I muted audio, it was still there. I shut off my powered speaker amp, it was still there. It was coming from the radio itself. I couldn't tell whether it was coming from the internal speaker, or whether it was a relay clicking at the speed of the opto-sensor of the flex control knob. I shut down SmartSDR and restarted and it was still there. So I powered the rig down and rebooted. All was back to normal. I have never had it do this before. Rig info: 6500, SSDR 13.10, SmartCAT. I was NOT running DDUtil this time. The only other ham software I was running was ACLog 4.1 Also running MS Explorer, watching the support community. Lenovo Windows 8 i3 Desktop w/6 GB RAM

I have had the same raspy sound much like relays rapidly operating while tuning with the flex control. it almost sounds like an encoder noise that you sometimes hear while tuning. 6500 here0
