How long does it take for the SmartSDR v1.4.16 to update the Flex 650 hardware. Mine has been going now for an hour and still has the message UPDATING HARDWARE on the display on the front of my Flex. I'm now in Panic Mode!

That's worrying, I've just reset it and I'm now running the new software again and it back updating the hardware.

Bill, the same thing happened to me about a year ago. I just forced the hardware to shut down by holding the power button down, removing the 12 volt power lead, waiting 30 seconds and then turning the power switch back on and running the upgrade again after the Flex reboots. Worth a try

Bill - No more than 5 minutes or so.  Do what Winston recommended.  Power off the radio and restart it.  That should complete the firmware update.  If not, please submit an HelpDesk support ticket so we can troubleshoot and resolve your issue.

Yes,  I've now done that and it all works and has installed the updates. What was worrying me was turning it of and then finding thatI had a system that was partially updated but locked up.
Everything fine now and working properly.
    Thanks for all your help.

We purposely designed multiple safeguards to prevent the "bricking" of the radio due to a failed or partial firmware install.  in 99% of cases like yours, power cycling the radio resolves the issue.
