Option to disable the TX Relay output while in Tune mode as a setting.

As a safety precaution I thought it might be a good idea to be able to ensure that the amplifier did not key up while setting up the external tuner. I know that I am supposed have the amp in bypass during antenna tune up but just thought if it was possible to disable the TX Relay while in tune mode as a setting would be a secondary safety. Haven't done this yet but you know - stuff happens.

I do this using a ddutil macro toggle. Push on and rca's cancel and tune is energized toggle off and tune is canceled and rca's turn back on. I use this to tune my mfj 998 while running remotely. I also have a command that engages xit +2khz which I can hit if the freq is clear up 2. The xit is automatically cancelled when I turn off tune. I use the tune on the radio if I dont want rca cancelled 73 W9OY

Thanks Lee, I did not know this option was available in ddutil. I will check it out as I have the same tuner setup as you I believe. Do you have the mfj998? 73's Joe WD5Y

I'm also running this same set-up, Lee, Any chance you can post more detail in setting up the Macro in ddutil?  Thanks, 73 Corey

    DDTG toggles between 2 memories

DD6TXL turns RCA on and off, DD6TXT turns tune on and off, ZZXS0 cancels XIT

    So

line 65 turns off RCA  1, turns ON tune
line 66 turns off tune, turns on RCA1, and cancels XIT  if XIT is not on it does not affect XIT
this is toggled by line 17

lines 53 and 54 gives me a rapid way to turn RCA on and off
this is toggled by line 19

lines 73 turns on XIT and sets it + 2khz and 74 cancels XIT
this is toggled by line 18

I'm a low band op which means LSB

My normal way to tune if I'm on a clear freq is toggle line 17
If I'm listening to a QSO, I want to tune up the band so I set line 18, move my xmtr +2khz and then toggle 17.

AS LONG AS YOU USE THESE MACROS tuning is fool proof.  If you hit the tune button on the radio you will hit your tuner with full tune power from the amp, so  you have to  train yourself to be consistent.  These macros will work remotely and allow you to tune your tuner (998) while running your amp, if you crank up an instance of DDUTIL on the remote computer

It would really be nice if this feature was built into SSDR though.  Added safety if not anything more!

I came across these posts since I have the same problem. I plan on setting up my Flex 6300 as a mobile with an RM Italy amp and want to be able to tune the antenna without keying the amp since it will fault. Fortunately, I found that FR Stack has the ability to tune without keying the amp. I do not understand why Flex cannot have this option as obviously, it is possible since FR Stack does it. I would rather use my Maestro than a small tablet PC so if this was part of the software that ran on a Maestro, it will be a big deal to me.

After 6 years I doubt you will ever see this feature.

Bump, hoping to see this feature integrated directly into SSDR (suppress TX relays during SSDR Tune operation)
