is VNA capability going to be considered?

it has been requested in the somewhat distant past; just wondering if it might appear on some roadmap, someday?

Vector Network Analyzer? Is that what you are referring to? Maybe if you could explain what it is and why it would be useful, people would be better informed to vote it up.

I would love to see this eventually, giving the ability to do antenna/coax analysis with just the rig.  It seems to me that the hardware is already there.  It just needs the appropriate software, if it is feasible.... perhaps in V. 3.0?

    Hi Jon

yup, a VNA is so cool...you can measure inductors and capacitors at the frequency of interest, with remarkable accuracy...you have to learn about "S-parameters", but it's not THAT hard...you can measure feedline loss, electrical length in degrees ( and K, of course ), and characteristic impedance...you can sweep a band-pass, low-pass, or hi-pass filter...if you have one, you sell your MFJ-259...

I'm surprised nobody else is 'liking this up' the list for FRS...

and, of course, as Ken said, measure an antenna feedpoint impedance very accurately too...

you can measure amplifier gain / vs freq across a wide range....and it's input Z and output Z...seems to me, all the hardware is in place...

If You wanted to use the FLEX as a measerment device like a VNA or SA then the first thing You needed are the possibility of markers as mentioned in an earlier comment. This can be simple lines in the panadaptor and a extra window with the values.
