DDUTIL and an ACOM 2KA

After being off the air for  a few months I am trying to get my ACOM 2KA working with the 6700 and DDUTIL.
I have enabled all the tx on radio setup but my problem is how to make DDUTIL talk to the Acom.
I have comports 4,5,6,7,8,9 set up in CAT but none of them work to operate the Acom.
( I also have the same problem, DDUTIL won't talk to the Steppir)
Advice please as to what to look for.
Thanks
Ross

    Hi Ross,

I have the Acom 2000A running with DDUtil and my 6700. First off, download and install the latest DDUtil if you do not have it already. You need a physical com port in your PC or a USB to serial adapter. I would recommend a physical com port board over the USB since the USB is going to be more susceptible to RF interference.

You need a RS-232 male to female null modem cable with only three wires connected. Pin 2 to 3, 3 to 2, and 5 to 5. DO NOT connect any other pins!!!!!

You also need an RCA cable from TX1 on the radio to the key in on the back of the amp.

Connect the null modem cable from the back of the amp (not the RCU) to the com port on the PC.

In DDUtil setup on the amp tab set the ACOM 2000 window to the physical com port you used, 1200 baud and click enable. On the main DDUtil page click the yellow STBY button, it should turn green and say OPER. This will toggle the TX1 output to enable to key the amp.

This should get you going. Feel free to ask questions and I will try to help.
