SmartLink fails after a Flex-6400 radio lock-up

Flex-6400, SSDR 4.2.20, Maestro C

I was using my Maestro C to operate my remote 6400 via SmartLink. At one point, the radio locked up (RFI?). I remotely power-cycled the radio, and restarted the Maestro. Then the Maestro encountered an internal error and says that it needs to be restarted. I did this several times with the same error screen asking me to restart.

  • I then tried to connect to another remote Flex-6400 using the Maestro, and got the same error asking me to restart
  • I tried AetherSDR and got this messsage: "SmartLink sign-in failed: Global rate limit exceeded" ← Hmm the hint?
  • I then tried SmartLink on my remote and on another remote 6400 and it failed to see either radio
  • If I use RemotePC to connect to a co-located computer at my radio site, SmartSDR works fine.
  • I also tried using two local computers in my home with the same results
    • It's been over 30 minutes and I have the same problem. As it failed using two on my home computers, can it be that my WAN IP address got blocked?
  • Now when I try to log in, the Maestro says that either my SmartLink UID and/or my PWD is wrong.
    • I tried for both radios with the same result … is the SmartLink server blocking me?

ChatGPT says: "Usually means that the SmartLink authentication service has temporarily blocked additional login requests because too many requests have been received in a short period of time. In other words, a rate-limiting mechanism has been triggered to protect the service from overload. Rate-limit errors generally indicate "too many requests" and are often temporary."

I am also curious if the above could have been caused by the lockup and to many requests with Flex SmartLink server?

Confirming the same here since last night. Different setup entirely — FLEX-8600M, not a 6400 — and I'm getting "SmartLink sign-in failed: Global rate limit exceeded" on AetherSDR, and sign-in failures on SmartSDR as well. Tried from iPad, iPhone and Mac, across several different networks. It let me in once briefly and then nothing.

Since this is hitting multiple accounts, multiple radios, multiple clients and multiple networks at the same time, it looks server-side rather than anything on our end. Local/LAN and RDP access to a co-located machine still work fine for me, which points to the SmartLink auth service rather than the radios or routers. Hope Flex can take a look.

Same thing here using Flex 6600 running remote. Connected via AnyDesk. I can log on to the radio with SDR and control it, change bands etc. But Maestro can not find the radio and I can't access SmartLink.

ERROR: An error has occurred that requires a restart of Maestro. Show more gives a long long list of errors System.Net and Runtime

Reboot error There are currently no radios available. SmartLink Setup error Not configured for SmartLink Register or Unregister.

We are looking into the Rate Limit issue and will post in the community once we have our hands around this.

It's 22h22 PDT (05h22 UTC) and everything is working. Maestro C, SmartSDR and AetherSDR. They must have found the issue and fixed it :-)
