New 3rd Party App: ControlDeck - The touch control surface companion app for FLEX Radios

Hello All, I want to introduce ControlDeck — The touch control surface companion app for FLEX-6000 and 8000 series (and maybe Aurora? Haven't been able to test)

Available now on the AppStore. Android coming soon.

It runs alongside SmartSDR (or any other SDR client) on your network.

Real touch controls for everything you'd normally mouse through: VFO tune (10 Hz to 100 kHz steps), band and mode switching, filter bandwidth presets, AGC, RIT/XIT, ATU, antenna selection, RF power etc.

The killer feature is multi-step action macros. Chain a sequence of radio commands into one tap. A SPLT DX macro locks the slice, creates a new slice at 2 Hz, sets audio pan, configures a narrow filter, and arms TX on the new slice. One button. Pin it where you need it.

Both local network discovery and SmartLink for remote support. MultiFlex aware, multi-slice support.

Supported radios: FLEX-6300, 6400, 6500, 6600, 6700, 6400M, 6600M, 8400, 8600 (haven't tested Aurora yet)

Requires iOS 17+ on iPhone and iPad. Support for Android 9+ coming soon.

No tracking. No analytics. No third-party SDKs. No ads. Paid app — no in-app purchases, no subscriptions.

    Hi John,

I couldn't find it by searching in the app store but when I clicked the link from within my iPhone it gave me an option to "Open in App Store" and that brought it up.

Does it allow for a key pad button to select a Global Profile?

@johnn1jm it may take up to 24 hrs for the app to show up in AppStore search. The link should work until then. Thanks for checking it out and let me know if you have any questions.

@"John - K3MA" This is a great idea. I'll look into adding it in the next release.

TU, I like many others, have Global Profiles assigned for each mode and band and use those to immediately switch our operating frequency and mode.

It would be a great enhancement to have an old Android phone set up with your app for a one button push to move around the bands and modes.

@"John - K3MA" Good to know. Android will be coming soon. Btw, ControlDeck can do what you're asking with the Macro feature where you can stack multiple actions into a single button. Agree that Global Profiles would be nice since they follow the radio and work the same across all clients.

I don't use "Band" buttons in SmartSDR. I use Global profile selection to change bands, as most people do. This works around a long standing problem of Band/Mode coherence. So my Global Profiles are named like CW 40m, SSB 20m, AM 80m, etc, Transmit Profiles use exact same convention. So, in ControlDeck, I would need buttons for Mode/Band selection simply by selecting the Global Profile by name. So, in other words, they would be buttons to select Global Profiles that are defined. The "Band" buttons and "Mode" buttons would be removed as they are not needed or desired. Band and Mode is selected by selecting the Global Profile which is automatically linked with associated Transmit Profile. When setting up operation this way, everything is simplified, consistent and reliable.. Hope that makes sense. I will put in an enhancement request soon, if not already supported. Dan WA1QZX.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
