Can the "PC Audio" button be touched by FRStack?

I actively us FRStack for my streamdeck and would like to add a button that will toggle the "PC Audio" button at the top of SSDR. I went through the api docs but did not find anything that would toggle it.

Thanks for any info

Hi Charles, I very much doubt it. The PC Audio button is a SmartSDR control, not a radio control.

The radio is a server and SmartSDR and FRStack are clients. In general, clients communicate with the server, not with each other. The SmartSDR API does not include commands for clients to communicate with each other, except for things like the bind command which associates a non-GUI client (like FRStack) with a GUI client (like SmartSDR). Even in this case, there is no direct communication between clients.

Thanks for this, it gives me a better understanding of how the system works!

Now I am wondering what is PC Audio actually doing? I ask as there are so many volume controls in this application. I have been using this button as a primary way to turn audio on and off from the radio.

Hi Charles, the audio can either be routed to powered speakers plugged into the back of the radio or to the PC. The idea is that if you are using your radio remotely (next room or next continent), you can use your PC speakers. Using the PC speakers gives you some additional latency as the signal makes its way through the audio software of Windows. When I am in front of my 8600, I use the powered speakers. If I am on a road trip and using SmartLink, I have no choice but the PC Audio.

The volume controls on the slice flags control the volume on those slices individually. The volume control in the upper right hand corner of SmartSDR is the "master" volume for all slices. You can mute each slice individually by right-clicking the speaker icon on that slice. You can mute all audio by clicking on the speaker icon in the upper right-hand corner.

The volume control for phones only controls the headphones jack on the back of the rig, and is not useful for remote operation.
