PC Hardware requirements
Is there a published summary of minimum PC Hardware requirements for SmartSDR 4? Is a graphics card recommended or is the built in graphics in new PC's running Windows 11 generally adequate?

pretty much anything reasonably new will work for SmartSDR. It’s a light weight client. The radio (server) does all the work. The pc just displays the status of the radio at whatever rate is selected. I haven’t tried any of the 4.xx version, but I ran v3 on a win7 I5 laptop for several years. Being lightweight s why it will run on an iPad or iPhone. The other apps like loggers, wsjt, slicemaster can need more resources. The network can require more attention. For starters, I suggest a direct link between the pc and the radio just to eliminate network issues from the pc processing.

Randy, Everything has to do with your radio rooms amount of automation, covienience and flash and panache.
There's nothing wrong with i5 processors. Or 1060 video cards to run the radios. But you need to watch your communication connections and hiccups from O/S interups.
Heres what i have going on at my station to explain what i mean. I like the panadaptor moving at full speed. It gives me more information. I use a 92 percent speed for a slower movement in ft8 and ssb and cw indications. Everything else is pushed all the way up. The radio would need a modern laptop, or fairly decent desktop to view quality at thise speeds. Also hard wired ethernet. Wifi can be unreliable. I have 4 big monitors on my system. Each has it dedicated task. I have a i7-12700 in the extreme performance mode hidden windows power mode... 32 gigs of ram. Solid state drives. I also am running ham radio deluxe logging, rotor, sat tracking, etc. Coax switches controlled, amplifier controlled under ddutil v4... the video card is an Nvidea 3060ti…. I wouldn't desire anything less on my station. Can you get by? Sure. Might you have jerky audio, or transmit. Ive seen it on lessor machines. My computer is a updated Dell XPS 8950 from 2022. My late 2026 early 2027 machine will be i9 ultra or whatever comes out. Badder video card 64 gigs of ram. And about 800w of power supply. It would be nice to have a dual video card system... for now. Im ok and only small glitches under load. DD
