Huge Shout Out to Flex Radio

Good morning to the Group From Beautiful state of Hawaii. I been a Ham Radio Operator since 1959. Yes I am old but praise the Lord I have been blessed withgood health, Faithful Wife, wonderful friends, a great church and long time affection for amateur radio and DX. I woke up this morning and thought I needed to give a big shout out to Flex Radio for making it possible for me to enjoy Amateur Radio as much as I do. About 10 years ago at Dayton I met Gerald Youngblood, K5SDR, and he demonstrated the new Flex Radio System to me. I was skeptical at first glance to say the least. However, when I got home I was able to buy a used Flex 6500 from well known Collins enthusiast and started to play around with it. I showed it to a good friend of Mine, Jeff, KI0KB, and he was not very impressed but before you new it he had a new 6600M and off we go. I wanted to have a radio that I could remote from home and enjoy the hobby as I traveled in retirement and not miss any DX since my long travel was usually in the winter when most of the good DX was operating. My friend Jeff, KI0KB, is very creative and before long we were able to put together a remote station using the 6600M.I'm now using a Flex 8600M with SmartSDR V4.1.5 software, PGXL, TGXL and Hamation Bandmaster products to control my antenna remotely, an Asus RT-AX86U Router to port forward my station and DXLab logging and control software. Wow, it's amazing how well it works.  There are a few other things that I use but I just want to give a big Shout Out to Flex Radio and the people at Flex who have been so helpful to me to enable my enjoyment of the hobby to continue for all these years. Thank you Gerald and Matt, Tim Ellison, Mike Walker, Steve Hicks and many other loyal employees at Flex who have made it possible to have these amazing products to enjoy the hobby so much.Oh, did I mention that I can do all this with my Levono 16 inch IDEAPAD and WiFi from my condo. Amazing! 73

Even Bob Sherwood, who is not a flex fan, considers the Flex to be the best radio for remote work.
