Using the Maestro in a Flex M-model for remote Flexes?

Maybe a strange question but, I give it a shot.

I have a 6400 and a 6700 that Im having running remotely.

Now Im planning to by myself also a AURORA M-model.

Would it be possible to run my remote stations (one at a time) from the Maestro in the M-model be used to run that remote stations if need be?

Would it also be possible to run the AURORA locally at the same time from a SmartSDR-instance on a WinPC ?? Somewhat odd but….

I understand that the Maestro in a M-model is a logically separate unit from main radio. So in theory the above should be possible.

    The short answer is no. The front panel an M model radio is not able to operate another radio.

    Thank you James.

    In theory it should be possible. This as the Maestro in the M-model is having a separate IP-adress and therefore is logically autonomous from the main unit.
    So one would be able to "choose radio" and then pick another radio set up with SmartLink or locally.

    Sorry for asking, have you tried to select another radio from the Maestro in a M-model ??

    The front panel display and computer module in a M model radio does not have the ability to choose a radio to operate like a regular Maestro does. The Maestro looks for a radio broadcasting it's presence on a network ( wired or otherwise) the front panel on a M model radio does not. It is connected internally to the radio through an internal switch. The M model radio's firmware tells the radio to look for, and connect to, the front panel computer module. Lots of differences. It also involves the bootup timing as well.

    This is another reason to use a maestro rather then an M version.

    John, like anything else, it depends on your particular needs. I have had both setups and I prefer the M model instead of the Maestro. When I had a Maestro I found in my particular setup that it took up too much room the way I had it configured. So, it eventually got traded in with a 6500 for a 6600M when those came out. That worked much better than having the Maestro sitting on my desk.

    I opted for an 8600 and Maestro s an 8609M. This gives me the ability to have all RF related equipment in an old server cabinet in my garage where the RF cable entry is located. Only

    Electrical panel is in the garage so 130 and 240 VAC runs to the cabinet. Also shack is directly above the garage. 24 port managed Ethernet switches in both the RF server cabinet and at my desk connected via single mode fiber.

    Maestro, PC and MAC Mini at operating position with 32 button Stream Deck and Stream Deck +. This frees up desk space. Plus the Maestro can be used on the deck or remote extending my operating ability.

    I also have a small IBM Think Center PC in RF cabinet for remote upgrades as well as running a Virtual Here server to access the LP700 meter and ShackMaster power supply from apps on desktop PC.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
