SmartSDR for mac new power meter
Noticed a recent update changed the TX power meter to red at and above 50W. I'm curious about the significance of this change. The prior meter was red above 100W.

To work with the new Aurora 500 watt radios as well as the previous radios.

OK I understand the need to support the 500W radio but red at > 50W?

I imagine that is to keep Aurora users from using too much power when using the internal ATU. The PA in the Aurora radios is more sensitive to SWR above 1.7:1 and will start folding back power at that point. My guess is having the meter indication in red at 50 watts is to give an indication to turn down the tune power when tuning with the built-in ATU. Then again, it could be that someone thinks that having the numbers above 40 watts in red is easier to use!! ( just kidding)

I don't have an Aurora and I don't care for the new power-meter representation. It makes no sense on my 6600 and aesthetically looks awful.
