New v4.1.5 Didn't Fix AGC-T Function with DIV/ESC

Upgrade to v4.1.5 on my 6700 and Maestro C went well with no issues. Amazing how frequently Flex is releasing f/w improvements now. Much appreciated !

I was hoping the SMART-12099 fix in v4.1.5 would address the fact that AGC-T can't be adjusted on the child slice in DIV/ESC. As it stands now, adjusting AGC-T while in DIV/ESC mode effects the "A" side only. The "A DIV" side stays unchanged at whatever it was.

The only way to do it that I can see is, before turning DIV on, adjust AGC-T with the primary RX antenna selected then switch to the child's RX antenna, then switch back. The child's RX antenna then seems to reset to the primary antenna's AGC-T setting. And then they're at least the same when using DIV/ESC.

But since it might be desirable to set them differently on the fly as you might in normal use, it would be great if the AGC-T for "A" got set when it's tab is selected with DIV engaged, then got set independently for "A DIV" when it's tab is selected. The way noise reduction choices, etc work now. In my case my two antennas are very different and always need different AGC-T settings.

Hoping for the future ! Russ KR6W

    Hi Russ,

I haven't updated to 4.1.5 yet, but a few months ago I had the same question re. AGC-T for the "A DIV" receiver whilst using the previous DIV (non ESC) mode on my Maestro C. I raised a ticket and Ken was very helpful in pointing out that the "A DIV" AGC-T value could be adjusted in the MENU → Audio → Slice A DIV menu (below the Slice A Audio controls) on the Maestro. Because I had to scroll that Maestro menu screen to see it, I had completely missed that there was a A DIV AGC-T adjustment slider there!

Might be worth checking to see if its still there and if it works in DIV/ESC mode?

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the response - excellent ! Yeah, forgot all about those settings being there. And yes indeed that works.

It would still be nice to be able to adjust it on the fly the way setting the noise reduction features works. Select the "A" tab and adjust, then select the "A DIV" table and adjust separately. That way you wouldn't have to jump between setting screens. But it's not a real big deal to do it this way so this'll definitely work.

Again, appreciate the very helpful response. Happy Holidays !

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me that missed those sliders! 😀 Yes It would be nice not to have to dive into the menus, so hopefully that can be improved in the future. Your idea of tapping on the tab's would be a good solution.

Have a nice Holidays Russ and hope to catch you on the air sometime,

In addition to AGC-T setting, I can't see how to check and adjust the RF gain on the selected antennas. Am I right to assume that both AGC-T and RF Gain are mirrored from the parent to child slice? If so one can't balance the inputs from two antennas that are different in terms of sensitivity (for example a dipole and RX loop)

    Hi John,

As far as I can tell, while you can awkwardly adjust the AGC-T independently between the two DIV antennas as described above, you cannot adjust the RF gain independently.

The way you would do that is to select the antenna selector drop down at the top of the display. In there with DIV selected you pick the antenna to be used for both parent and child RX and for TX, also the RX GAIN setting. However when you adjust that setting while in DIV mode, it changes both parent and child antennas together even though they're on separate SCUs.

It would be nice if this could also be set independently as you say so maybe they'll add that too at some point. We're still in the early days of this new software development approach so we'll see.
