Fine Tune To A Frequency

Hi All,

I am a macOS user and have had an 8400 for a few days now.

How do people fine tune to a frequency quickly and easily?

I must be missing something. When I click and drag the slice sometimes it move 100hz at a time and then, for no apparent reason, it moves in a much more granular way. It's all over the place.

The MacBook trackpad is super quirky and the Magic Mouse is the same. Is this mouse a known PITA? What would you recommend? Something with a wheel?

Out of the box, the keyboard does not affect the frequency either which I had expected it to. Do we have to map specific keys to a change frequency "function" to get that working?

Thank you!

David

Hello David and welcome to the flex community! For precision tuning, definitely get yourself a mouse with a wheel. Mac SmartSDR accommodates it nicely. I also have my mouse wheel mapped so that when I press the wheel down, it changes the tuning step size.

I recommend a Logitech mouse. Their accompanying software allows you to define custom button mapping, which I use extensively. For example, I use the mouse back and forward buttons to zoom in and out of the panadapter.

    Good luck!
