Bought the SSDR+ software (4.0.1) - now what?

Reasonably new to the FlexRadio world. Got my 8400 about 6 months ago.

I updated the software to the basic v4.0.1 version and decided to upgrade to the Plus (+) version. Payment and order processed.

So now what happens? I can't find a place to download the upgraded software, no link or instructions included in the emails.

Does the radio and Windows software just automatically update? If so, how does this get triggered?

Or is there some special link to download the software?

Thanks!
Norman

Hi Norman, if your order was processed, you should be all set. When you upgraded to V4.0.1 basic, you got the software, so there is nothing else to download until the next version comes out. Go to Settings, Radio Setup…, Radio tab.

You should see a Licensed version of v4 and the SmartSDR+ button should be grayed out. This shows that you indeed have the SmartSDR+ upgrade.

you'll need to also power down the Radio and when it boots back up it should be done so when the 30 days are up after the Updates came out they will become active I think Dec. 2nd.

From what I've read here, the updates should become active for Plus users on November 30th since they were introduced on October 30th.

Flex have said they are releasing a new version(4.1.x), this will then make the new features for + users available.

They have said this will be at the end of this month, so you need to wait for that then install it when it's released.

I do not see how since that day is a non-business day. Moreover, any update not released on or before 28 November and in time for CQ WW CW test, will mean that the CW issues will not be fixed in a timely fashion.

I agree for the exact CQ WW, except I'm waiting for the noise suppression changes.

You have just expressed why the early access may be cost justified. CQ WW is just 2 days too early

I think I saw an email from Flex saying they are closed now until Monday for Thanksgiving so can't see a release coming out before Monday.

Oh yes Rich, you did see such an email. Good spot but bad news for CW operators.

Isn't it possible that the radio can check the date and after 30 days from the features announcement, turn on the new features? The original posts about this certainly make it seem that way. I would think that having another point release would be to fix problems encountered with the initial release. Of course, there have certainly been enough issues that another point release should take place. But, not automating the turning on of the new features for Plus buyers in some way would have Flex Radio getting complaints of " you said 30 days after the new features are released that they will be available to Plus users "

I guess we will see what happens Sunday!

Flex have already confirmed it needs to be an install of a new version of SmartSDR.

See below comment from Mike from another thread.

Yes Mike did say that as the new release will have fixes hence the need for an update. I too thought at first it would be an automatic thing after 30 days but given the new model, we will see fixes and new features faster than before. I certainly will not be complaining about the shorter time between releases. This will be a welcome inconvenience for me to get use to.

well with the Early access, I just had to power down the radio and bring it back up after 4.0 was loaded and I paid for the subscription so I think the License Server will enable them and you may have to power down your radio and power it back up for the update to load kind of a no brainer and nothing else to load.

I'm sure they will have a new version with bug fixes and updates soon but not to turn on the + features.
