Shorted to ground my powered speaker connection
What would I have done for damage....and do I need to send my new 8400 back to repair any damage?
Thanks for any advice!

Have you tried plugging in a set of powered stereo speakers to see if you have actually damaged something? The rear speakers jack outputs a line level audio signal that needs a set of powered speakers in order to have any volume. It does put out a very low level ( volume) signal that you may not have been able to hear on your mono speaker. There is a possibility that you damaged something. But, I would suggest trying powered ( stereo) speakers first before sending the radio off for repair. Even if you have damaged the line level audio output, once you get your radio back from Flex Radio, you will want the powered speakers.
Or, you could just operate the radio from your computer and direct the audio to your computer and attach powered speakers to your computer.
