I have a 8600 and a Maestro. As I am still learning how to use this radio, I gave the Maestro to another amateur so that we could both gain experience. This worked well until recently. The 8600 is in my shack upstairs. I use Windows 11 on the computer in my study downstairs to run SmartSDR. We were both able to operate at the same time. We are both using V4.01.

Something has changed now as when I use SmartSDR it cuts off the Maestro. I don't think it did this initially.

Am I just imagining the past or can I set it up so that we can both operate at the same timer?

is it an 8600M? Do you have SmartSDR running on your PC in shack?

You can have a maximum of two clients connected at a time to the radio.

There is also a toggle setting to disable MulrtiFlex. Make sure MultiFlrx is enabled.

  • Dave,

Many thanks. I think what must have been happening was that I started leaving the 8600M on all the time so that Sam could use the Maestro from his QTH. If I went into the shack, I would use SmartSDR on my PC. I see now that this is the limit of two clients if Sam is operating. I might then go downstairs and use SmartSDR on the computer in the study. This means there is a third client and Sam gets cut off on the Maestro. The answer, therefore is to make sure that I only have one case of SmartSDR running at any time.

    Thanks again,

    Charles

Hi Charles, the other possibility is to logically disconnect the front panel. If you put the front panel into SmartControl mode, you will then have two client logins available. Check out section 9 of the Maestro User Guide for instructions.
