Heil Sound Pro Set 6 Headset PS-6 on an 8400

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of buying my first Flex radio and I am trying to work out what I need to do to make my Heil Sound Pro Set 6 Headset PS-6 work on an 8400.

Here is a link to the model I bought from DX Engineering: https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/HLS-PS-6

I have been using this headset on a Yaesu up until now and I had to plug the two chords into an adaptor to connect it to the FTDX10. If I were to just remove that Yaesu adaptor and plug the Heil PS6 straight into the back of the 8400 would it work or do I need to buy some other type of adaptor to make it work?

The Heil website says it will work and Mike (VA3MW) at Flex says it won't and that I should look here for help from the community.

Yours confused,

  • Here is an answer to my own question from Herry at Heil in case anyone else comes here with the same problem searching for an answer:

"The Heil headset microphone lead (gray plug) will connect to the mic input labeled above which is 3.5mm or 1/8"

The black stereo cable will connect to your headphone input.

That's all you should need to connect besides the PTT connection to get it working."

I hope that helps some confused soul as I have been!
