SmartSDR v4.0.1 and the SmartSDR v4.0.1 Release Notes
SmartSDR v3.10.15 and the SmartSDR v3.10.15 Release Notes
The latest 4O3A Genius Product Software and Firmware
Need technical support from FlexRadio? It's as simple as Creating a HelpDesk ticket.
SmartSDR v4.0.1 is out, but zero updates to the 6400M/6600M user guide in over six years!
So where is the documentation? Why should I spend money on a firmware upgrade if Flex has no apparent interest in ever updating the manual?

I just tried to look up some of the new v4 features as I had some questions. But, I could not find an updated manual of operation or users guide with descriptions of these features. How can you release software features without documentation? It is unheard of. The only explanation that can possibly be is that the manual is in a different place and I haven't found it yet. I don't know if it helps but the Release Notes offer a bit of insight.

In the past the new software has come out before the User's Manual has been updated. I would imagine that is still the case. And the manual will be updated before too long.

You have a vivid imagination James! 😀
There have been 25 (!) software releases since the manual has been updated.

I agree, I just upgraded 4.0.1 and PLUS and want to use the new feature(s). The changelog says there are new features, but offer no clue on how to access or use them. I can't confirm they even on the radio? The screen says v4.0.1 and that's my only indication something is different. I can't believe that Flex is YEARS behind in documentation. I got into this with a reburb unit - so I knew it wasn't new stuff…but ever since I unboxed I continue to ask. Is this the current software and instrcutions and add-ins (work with) etc. I mean, should I be using 3+ year old stuff and expect it's current?

To add to my original comment, the six-year old manual is a hot mess. The exact same text and figure about the TX Band Settings tab is repeated five times, the first four of those with it being inserted randomly in the middle of entirely unrelated information. There are five references to other sections that have "Error! Reference source not found" instead of the section number. Nowhere is there so much as a block diagram of the radio, instead with the radio hardware and firmware described piecemeal verbally, leaving it to the reader to attempt to assemble a block diagram in their head from disparate sources.
Flex Radio not only has no apparent interest in updating their documentation — they have no apparent interest in writing even somewhat decent documentation.
Does Mike VA3MW or anyone at Flex read these posts? Can this software-defined radio company respond with what their plans are for documentation of their radio and software?0
