Awful quiet. I'm guessing that with all the problems people are experiencing with version 4, that the Aurora team and even the shipping department had to jump in to help get everything on track again. Maybe, by this time next year, those of us who prepaid for an Aurora radio will actually have one. I may have to put my QRP Labs QMX+ in the spot I have reserved for the AU-520M so I will at least have a transceiver capable of using Polar Modulation like the new Aurora radios are supposed to be able to do. While it will be a little on the low side of 500 watts at 5 watts output, it will produce a very clean signal since it also uses Pre-Destortion to help correct the transmitted signal.

Just got an email update from Flex Radio. It appears that they had a supply chain issue that they had to switch sources to resolve. Now, the target release/ shipping will be sometime in December. Long after the $50 discount for SmartSDR + and Early Access goes away. And all of the new Aurora radios will come with SmartSDR Basic pre-installed. ( woopie!) Oh, and no more mention of the free advertising products, jacket and tumbler, that they mentioned when the Aurora radios were announced.

personally, I would rather that they gave me a years subscription to SmartSDR + or Early Access. But, I guess that is too much to expect when you only spend $10,000 for a new radio.

I may have just learned an expensive lesson. I won't give up just yet. But, I am more than a bit disappointed.

Seems like those of us who paid the full amount of the radio up front should be getting all the goodies James discusses…..

That's what I think should happen. But, apparently the bean counters at Flex Radio feel differently.

I received the update as well. Do to the supply chain issue, I think Flex should consider extending the $50 discount for the software upgrade to the folks who have an Aurora coming.

It would have been great to have had it by Thanksgiving, but would rather they take there time making sure everything is in order. I would be disappointed if they rushed and I ended up having to ship it back to them a month later.

At the very least Flex Radio should extend the discount for SmartSDR + and SmartSDR Early Access given that the Aurora radios will not be shipping until sometime in December ( hopefully, December 2025 and not December 2026!)

I have also noticed that the " extras" that Flex Radio said were going to be included for those who prepaid in the first tier, ( a customized jacket and tumbler) have not been mentioned anymore by Flex Radio. Personally, I would rather have a free one year subscription to SmartSDR + or SmartSDR Early Access instead of a jacket and tumbler. But, if that is the only " thank you promotional items that they are planning to offer, then I wonder what point in time they are going to ask us what size jacket we wear.

Anyway, I will be happy to finally get the new radio I prepaid for. And I hope it lives up to the hype.
