QSK and Relay Click
I've been searching the archives and I have not found a firm answer.
I've played around with my antenna selections (Ant 1 for xmit and receive, Ant 1 for xmit and RXA for rcv etc) and I still hear a relay in the radio.
Is it possible to be in QSK (delay set to 0) and not have a relay click? My understanding is that the 8600 uses a pin diode, but it sure sounds like a reed relay clicking no matter what my antenna settings are.
If you have silent qsk, with no relay clicking, what are your settings?

Hi Rich… take a look at this thread
Cw looks like **** and signal is wide — FlexRadio Community
…and others. I'm not sure it's a good idea to set the delay to 0. the default seems to be really low, I think around 5ms.

Thanks Don,
I'm not talking about key clicks, I'm talking about relay clicks/sound coming from the transceiver. I thought the rig used pin diodes for qsk keying which should be silent.

Hello Rich,
As I recall (I am on vacation in Paris) you must disable the internal ATU which affects switching time for pin-diode QSK operation.

R,R Dan,
The internal ATU is in bypass.

Are you sure it's not the TGXL that's clicking. I find it very loud and annoying. I've never had a tuner that clicked on every PTT. Sometimes when I've had enough, I set the CW Delay to 400ms.

John,
I'll physically bypass and power down the TGXL this evening and test it. I doubt that's the issue, but theres only one way to find out. When the TGXL is active, there is a louder relay, no doubt.
As a side note, I'll replace the TGXL if and when 4O3A releases the out door version of the TGXL. I'd prefer the tuner at the tower, where it belongs..

Hi Rich… yes, I realize you were talking about audible 'clicks' you can hear from the rig. I'm just wondering (based on the thread) if maybe re-setting the delay to something low like 5ms might help because of something else going on in the software causing your clicking sound.
Just an idea to try…
