SmartSDR 3.9.18 Serial pass-through remote control of Acom 500S amplifier

I have been experimenting with controlling an Acom 500S using the new serial pass-through with a FTDI USB to full serial cable.

I have found that I can do most things except for remote power on/off - I guess that this is because the true state of the serial port control pins (RTS/CTS, DSR/DTR) is not passed through….hopefully this can be done in the future?

By "full serial cable" I mean that it does have all the common control pins available for standard 9 pin serial connection.

My setup:

Flexradio 8600
Windows 11, Intel PC. (Not a VM)
SmartSDR 3.9.18
FTDI USB to serial adapter

    Hello Ray,
I connected the Acom1200S to the FlexRadio8600 via CAT using a 15-pin connector so that the frequency is transferred to the external ACOM antenna tuner 04AT.
I connected the Win 11 PC to the Acom PA via the serial connection (9Pin). On the PC, I use the great ACOM Controller tool from Björn Ekelund (https://sm7iun.se/station/acom).
You are right, the PA can be switched on or off using the CTS or DSR pins on the RS232 connection of the PA.
If you connect this 9-pin connector to a fully wired 9-pin cable, the PA will switch on with the PC.

    Ray,

Is there any setup on the Flex, or only in the Acom?

    Thanks and 73,
