FreeDV 2.0 RADE V1 on SmartSDR for Mac

I have FreeDV 2.0 running on my Mac using a simple Logitech USB mic but the transmitted audio is too hot and has an echo. I would like to use my studio mic connected to the front of my Flex 6500 but don't know how to configure the studio mic to drive FreeDV. The configuration is SmartSDR for Mac 2.9.71, Loopback 2.4.6 with two pass-thru loops, and MacOS Sequoia. Any direction would be appreciated on how to setup the mic. I have attached screenshots of the FreeDV audio setup.

Thanks, Ron K2RAS

    Hi Ron -

Thanks for posing the question. I’d given up on FreeDV prior to this release with RADE, especially since the “waveform” capability has never really materialized for Flex gear. You’ve resurrected my interest!

I don’t have an answer for your specific configuration, but I’m wondering if you’ve seen the YouTube presentation by K6AQ concerning this latest version of FreeDV. The speaker touches on audio setup and levels briefly starting around 22 minutes. The link is here:

Hope you get it sorted out, and I’ll look for you on the air.
