Switch antennas AGx2

Hi guys,

I am using a PGXL, TGXL 2x2, AGx2, Flex 6600 all on last firmware.

I am very confused how it is supposed to work.

I have 2 antennas, one Hexbeam (20m to 6m) and a DX Commander Classic (80m, 60m, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m)

Thus on some bands I have 2 antennas available.

If I use the manual mode of AGx2 and the bands are none, everything works as expected, I can be on 20m on slice A and switch antennas with left or right button of the mouse. I can see the color green on Port A and blue on port B and can do different combination and use diversity reception as I want.

It gets much more complicated when I am in Flex mode, the bands are automatically selected.

I see some red circles on AG program filled or not filled but from there I cannot switch antennas the way I want and also sometimes the colors (blue and green) disappears.

For example if I have only one slice opened in the Flex, I am on ANT1 on the Flex but the Antenna 2 is selected on the AG as per what I can see on TGXL.

I want to switch between Antenna 1 and Antenna 2 on my slice A but it seems totally impossible.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

If I go to manual mode and select a band manually I am able to select and unselect the antenna I want but when in Flex (auto) mode it does not work anymore I am on one antenna, the colors disappears and I cannot change the antenna.

I would like to put screenshot to show you but I have permission error, is there anything I can do to show the screenshots ?

Anyone is facing this issue ?

Thanks

    @F4BPO Hello,

In the Antenna Genius Device Configuration, uncheck None for all bands. Then for each antenna select the RX and TX for each band

So Hex beam should have 6m through 20m TX and RX checked.

    DX Commander 80m through 10m.

When using a single panadapter and slice, set the radio's transmit and receive antenna to ANT1.

If you want to have one slice in panadapter on the Hex beam and another slice in a different panadapter on the DX Commander, you would need to have the first slice set to ANT1 for both transmit and receive. Note: Change the transmit first, then receive antenna.

The second slice in separate panadapter would be set to ANT2 for transmit and receive. Again, select transmit first, then receive.

If you are trying to use both antennas on the same band at once, the Antenna Genius as a default will have in band protection. This means that it will prevent having two different antennas in use on the same band at the same time. This is by design to protect the receiver from overload when transmitting on the other antenna.

You can go into the Antenna Genius Advanced tab and check the box to disable in band protection but be very cautious that you have the necessary isolation between antennas (distance) or it could damage the receive SCU module.

I hope this helps to explain how it works.

No one is having the same issue ?

Colors (green and blue) are not working and also some antennas cannot be selected on Band A if selected on Band B

I have similar setup Flex 8600, PGXL, TG and now AG A side thru to AG side A and Flex B side thru to AG B side. Three antennas Tri band on AG port 5 G5RV on 7 and Butternut on 8. Have tried several combinations and can't get the transmit to move on the AG from port 5. I have green and blue with little red circles. Manual has lots of information on features that I don't use at present and very little on a basic setup.

Just found an article by Ken Wells that lays out in detail how things should go together. Have not finished my second read but looks promising. It is called "Configuring the Dream Station FLEX-8000/6000 with the PGXL/TGXL/AG for Proper Operation"
