No reception on ANT1 antenna, but OK on RX antenna, in 6500

My 6500 is deaf when listening on the antenna connected to ANT1. But it hears fine on an antenna connected to the RX Antenna input.

It transmits fine on ANT1.

Same results with SmartSDR software, and remote with Maestro.

I tried a cold boot (holding OK button during power-up until light flashes white), hoping that would restore things to right, but no luck.

Any other suggestions?

If a return/repair is required, what is that process - do I call for an RMA number or what?

Thanks,

Bill, K2PO

Hi Bill, check your RF Gain and AGC-T values when you have ANT1 selected. If they are OK, submit a help desk ticket,.

I had the coax switch relay in one of my 6500s melt and it connected 1 and 2 together. While troubleshooting I had a 100w dummy connected and and antenna on the other. While transmitting i accidently bumped the dummy load resistor and got a small burn. Oh nice. Swaped connectors same problem. Back to the mother ship for updates and repairs. what broke that relay also took out a couple caps. They fixed it and everything was fine. DD

I did as suggested - checking RF Gain, AGC-T, and receiver bandwidth. All are normal with ANT1 and match what appears when listening on RX antenna.

As I final experiment, I switched transmit antenna to ANT2. It, too, is deaf on receive, but works fine on transmit.

So I'm now to the help ticket stage, I guess.
