8600m standalone and PC simultaneously

Hello all I am new to Flex and I am now an excited owner of a beautiful 8600M. My question is can I work the radio standalone say sub whilst simultaneously decoding ft8 with SmartSDR on the PC , if so please how do I set this up? I have the software running on the PC all ok but not sure what to do next. I hope that's not a **** question. Thanks Steve

    Steve,

    Yes you can.. The radio portion of the 8600m is a server that can support up to two graphic client at the same time ( its called MultiFlex ). SSDR on the PC is a graphic client and the control panel on the 8600M is another graphic client. Simultaneously, the server can also support several non-graphic clients such as SSDR CAT and SSDR DAX. Just start up the clients that you need. You just need to be aware that some of the server's resources are shared between the clients and others used in common.

    NOTE: The PC and Radio Front Panel will operate INDEPENDENTLY of each other. In other words — The two "Clients" do NOT mirror each other.

    So . . . Slice A on the Front Panel is different from the Slice A on the Computer (SmartSDR for Windows or Mac).

    ALSO: You cannot use DAX or CAT on the computer to link to BOTH clients at the same time, because you can only run ONE instance of DAX and CAT at the same time, and that instance can only link to one of the "Clients" at the same time (Either the Radio Front Panel, or the Computer).

    Thanks for the info. So I can set up wsjtx on the PC and let that do it's thing whilst I dx on the radio. So can I transmit on both?

    Hi Steve, you can transmit from either but not simultaneously. The 8600 has 4 receivers but only one transmitter.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
