Connect your radio ethernet cable to your LAN router/WiFi. Connect your laptop with Wifi to the router.

Hi Steve… Is there any way you could route a 'longish' cable between the rooms? Alternatively depending on which Flex you have, (i.e. a non-M version), you could, like I do, put the radio in a closet or near the router and just forget about it — essentially running it just as a 'server'. Then you can set up your laptop anywhere you want.
Eric's suggestion should work as well.

Unfortunately my radio is upstairs and my router downstairs. I didn't know if there was another around0

Steve,
Sorry I missed that point. You may be able to find a wifi range extender that has an ethernet port on it also.
So you get wifi from your LAN router/wifi to the extender and then ethernet cable from the extender to the radio.
I have a TPLink RE505x that should work but don't use it for that purpose.

OR… If you don't need an internet connection, You could put a spare router/wifi device next to the radio
and connect the lap top wifi and the radio cable to that. It would be an isolated LAN.
