TGXL - Standby vs Bypass
What exactly is the difference between Standby and Bypass? The user guide is ambiguous. For example: the Tuner-Genius-XL User Guide (UG) has a whole section 4.5 (Bypass) & 4.6 (Standby) which contain ZERO text. No explanation provided.
Yet on page 48, section 7.1.2 the TGXL UG states "In Standby mode, the tuner disconnects from all antennas. As a result, tuning solutions that may be applied while receiving are not applied."
I suspect what the author meant to say was "In Standby mode the tuner is completely out of the signal path for both incoming and outgoing signals." In Bypass mode any tuning solution is not applied to incoming signals but is applied to outgoing signals.
Is this correct? If someone could clarify what exactly is the difference between Standby and Bypass it would be most helpful.

As best as I can tell, in Standby you have two main effects beyond what Bypass:
- It doesn't poll the radio for frequency
- The screen dims
