in SmartSDR for Mac

When the Windows SW is upgraded we have to download it into the SDR. This adds new features and sometimes fixes bugs. From what I've read, the IOS software does not do any updating or direct modifications to the radio. Would I still need to keep up with the Flex SW updates on the radio to keep the radio current if I start using the IOS SW? Does the IOS SW keep up with improvements and patches made by the Flex SW? I know the IOS S/W is 3rd party so I'm hoping some of the members on here can answer the question. The IOS SW looks very interesting, but I don't want to invest the effort and time into something that may not be log lived.

    I have had and used the Mac SSDR for three years together with my 6600M without any issues. You will find that, yes, there are updates that occur, but the great news is that the updates are completely automatic and you do not have to think about downloads etc. What happens is that if there has been an update, you will find it already executed when you start up the software at your next operation. Scary or what!!!

    I do not think you will have any regrets if you invest in Mac SSDR. It is really clean and very user friendly. I have also used the free software that Flex provide, but I very much prefer the Mac version.

    My advice to you is to go ahead and buy it. You will be pleasantly surprised!!

    I agree with the comments above. The Mac SSDR apps, even though they are 3rd party, are endorsed by Flex. Marcus (the developer) has been very responsive, and has kept his apps updated, especially recently to accommodate the new 8000 series. If Marcus was some typical really old ham (like me), perhaps I’d be worried, but I suspect he’s got many more good years ahead of him.

    I have Windows and Mac (and iOS) versions of SSDR, and I greatly prefer the Mac. There is so much more built-in integration of useful features in the native Mac app, versus Windows which requires multiple apps to achieve the same feature set.
