Auto zero beat should or would work, but I'm sure it's more complicated to implement. I merely want to press a button to hear the sidetone without transmitting so that I can resonate the sidetone - presumably zero beated - to the tuned CW station.

What I tend to do: in SmartSDR or Maestro, I turn ON the sidetone (pitch at my 850Hz choice). Then, for tuning purposes and matching the tone, I turn OFF Breakin. Now, it's like the Olden Days, where you close your key to hear your sidetone, but you are not transmitting.
Turn Breakin back ON to go live. And at least this is located about where you wanted it 😀
AutoZeroBeat would be even better, but I'm used to tone-matching this way, for now.
