The TG XL should work with any HF radio. It can use:
LAN communications for Flex 6000 or 8000 series transceivers
CAT (Kenwood, Yaesu, or Elecraft) or Icom CI-V and 20 memories per band.
LAN comm to the TG XL app in manual mode for OEM radios that do not have CAT or CI-V. Note - there is only one tuning memory per band in manual mode.
You will need to use 20 to 25 watts steady unmodulated carrier for tuning. (Turn the amp off before tuning).

"Works with any radio" is a bit to broad. Any specific radio in mind? Also here is a link to the QST Article that may help in you answer.

not familiar with that radio. Does it have a PTT out? TG XL requires one. If using an amp loop the radio PTT out through the TG XL first then to the amp.
Does it have CAT or CI-V? If CAT, what format (Kenwood or Yaesu)?
