Looking for a diagram on how to properly connect a FHM-3 & Y cable to Maestro C.

The techno babble in the Flex community posts regarding FHM-3 & Y cable connections to the Maestro C is atrocious. There should be a simple diagram available that illustrates the proper connections. I'm not willing to spend any more time trying to decipher babble from folks that can't communicate. Diagram, please. Tnx.

    The Y cable (at least mine) has helpful little pictures on its connectors. The FHM-3 RCA connector plugs into the little adapter (with an RCA jack) that comes with the Y cable. That’s the PTT. The other side of the little adapter plugs into the PTT jack on the Maestro.


    The other connector from the FHM-3 plugs into the Y cable jack with the little picture of the desk microphone on it. That’s the mic function and the Y cable plugs into the headset (HDST) jack on the Maestro.

    The jack on the Y cable that has a little picture of headphones is not used with the FHM-3 mic. It is used with a full headset with earphones and a mic.

    Tomorrow I can take pictures of my Maestro C setup. I had the Y cable already which I bought from Micro Center to use my W2IHY TX EQ and pair of amplified desktop speakers with my Dell XPS laptop which has a CTIA TRRS connection similar to the Maestro.

    The Y cable from Flex has been tested with the stock hand mic for the 6400 and 6600 models.

    The male TRRS connector plus into the headset jack on the Maestro. Amplified speakers or headset receive (headphones) plug into the female connector of Y cable which either has a headphone symbol or green color. The microphone 3.5mm TRS plug goes into the female connector of the Y cable with either a mic symbol or pink color. The mic RCA connector goes into a RCA female to 3.5mm male adapter supplied with the Flex Y cable kit.

    Is there something more than this that you need?

    I think it would be a benefit to your Maestro users if a FMH-3 Y-cable connection diagram was included in the Maestro users manual. A customer buying a Y-cable should get the same diagram with the cable. Think of the time savings it would mean to customer support if the end user could look at a diagram and make the connection between the FHM-3 and the Maestro properly every time.

    I need to give N3DF credit for writing the first intelligible and concise explanation of how to connect the FHM-3 to the Maestro using the Y-cable. I remain convinced that Maestro users are better served by Flex providing a pictorial diagram of the assembly that shows what Neil described so well. Nicely done, Neil de W5QKM.
