FT8 F/H XMIT freq changes when I respond to DX
This is new behavior. Running 3.5.8 with a 6600. WSJT-X is in F/H mode the FOX is below 1kHz and my xmit freq is around 2kHz. Things run as expected until the Fox calls me . My response to his call changes my xmit freq to something below 1kHz. Split operation is "Fake it".
WSJT works fine when not running Fox/Hound.
I am puzzled.

This should not be a new behavior because it is what is supposed to happen. The intent of WSJTx is to have you QSY to a free area below 1kHz to give maximum opportunity to your report being received by the Fox.

This is how hound mode works. Suggest reading the WSJT-X docs re: F/H mode.

During normal operation you probably run your TX audio frequency above 1500. In that case Fake It does not change RF frequency. The second audio harmonic would be above 3 kHz.
in F/H when the Fox moves you down below 1000 Hz, Fake It will shift your transmit frequency down so that your actual audio frequency transmitted is above 1500 Hz keeping audio 2nd harmonic above 3 kHz.
Perfectly normal when using Fake It.
