How do I use Iambic Paddles remotely over SmartLink?

I want to do remote CW from a laptop using a CW Paddle, not just CWX and Macros.

How would I configure an external WinKeyer to accomplish this?

Or are there other ways that don't have a lot of latency issues?

Thanks.

Hi Ken, The only way that I know is to use something like WinKeyer by K1EL. I have not tried it, so not sure what all goes into that setup. I am currently working on a project where I connect a bunch of knobs and buttons to the rig via an Arduino like processor over Ethernet. Once I get the core functionality done (I am nearly there!), I will port my keyer code over and see if I can figure out how to key the rig remotely with it. I know some solutions to this problem rely on a small network appliance like a Raspberry Pi to key the radio. I haven't studied any of this enough to know how reliable and latency-proof all this stuff is, but I think it holds promise of being a reasonable solution. If you figure it all out, I would appreciate one of your fantastic videos on the subject! I got my audio set up using your FDX trick and have been getting excellent audio reports (unsolicited) ever since.

@Ken Wells I think you posted this here about my support ticket 😁 For anyone else with this question, Here is a summary of the info you gave me. Check out https://groups.io/g/RemoteKeyerInterface/topics this is the way I am proceeding. This method hooks up to a serial port or usb on the remote laptop and talks directly to the flex rig not to smartSDR. You will need to provide tone from the keyer.

I can't believe Flex does not have a how-to article about this topic.😪

I found this old discussion which was partially answered.

One option to use a local paddle with a remote Flex radio is WKFlex:
