I use a Steel Series headset -- both the older phone plug version and a USB version. Both work well for me, but you have to set the audio parameters separately, as there is no profile defined for them.

My comments to this question.

When remote I use two different Bluetooth, depending which I pack with the laptop.

Bose - With these they pickup all surrounding sounds during transmission. While working remotely from the condo at Orange Beach AL, I responded to a CQ from Canada on 20m, as I was setting out on the balcony facing the beach, and they could hear the waves hitting the shore while I was transmitting.

YAMAY - These work much better related to background noise. Once I switched out to these I did not have the waves hitting the shoreline in my transmission while outside transmitting close to the shoreline.

Your personal decision. I have used for several years both a Logitech H600 and a Logitech H800. They both work well and can be interfaced with your computer either with bluetooth or the included USB dongle.

If you want greater distance then I use a Plantronics setup that lets me go outside and wonder around the property. There is some additional functionality with this microphone that may or may not be useful. For this one you need to build a small interface box but here are the details.
