Recording voice messages with Audacity

I tried to search community, but cannot find an answer.

I remember making my messages with Audacity before with my radiosport headset connected to 6600, but could not do it today, Can someone remind me what am I missing. I want to record audio messages on PC and play them with Macro's in N1MM or other log program.

But also tried other options without luck. I tested recording with external USB microphone and it is recoding fine as soon as I choose USB microphone, but sound is not very clear and I would like to use the same microphone for messages as for playback.

Thanks,

Sergey, KN7K

Hi Sergio. I use Audacity for the same purpose but I do it directly on the pc either by plugging in a usb mic or my Heil headset into the computer. Obviously, this software is overkill for the purpose but I haven’t found anything simpler.

Your doing it correctly just make sure the MIC Stream is turned on in the DAX control panel.

One additional thing that bit me - the "DAX" button on the microphone panel has to be OFF/disabled for recording to work. Then, when you want to play your recorded audio DAX has to be ON/enabled.
